Animal Tales-Stories from the Humane Society

Episode Summary

This popular episode from the vault was recorded May 22, 2015, when the Humane Society found its new regional home in Johnson City, Tennessee. Jonesborough residents Lucinda Grandy, on the Board of the Humane Society in Johnson City, as well as her her husband, (current Washington County Mayor) Joe Grandy, were interviewed about their involvement with the Humane Society, their roles as "foster parents" to animals, and the special room in their home devoted exclusively to their foster pets. Other members of the Humane Society were interviewed, providing insight into some harrowing experiences, like rescuing over 400 animals from a single location; setting up the Barn Cat program, as well and shining spotlights on some more light-hearted stories such as their of very famous cat, Lazarus, whose story went viral.
