Everyone is yearning to get out and go somewhere during these COVID-19 restrictions. This week, StoryTown takes listeners on a journey through geography and time, in “What a Trip!” an episode all about travel and adventures. Accompany the cast as they share the stories of local community members who have gone on great adventures. Paul Fagan’s two-year odyssey in South America in the 1970’s; Train hopping with Elizabeth’s granddad during the Great Depression; A family journey to see the gates of Auschwitz, and a promise to never forget; Deb Kruse’s journey through the sixties and seventies to break barriers for women in sports and the military and many more. The cast was joined by musician Aaron Jackson of Johnson City, Tennessee, debuting his new release “Abriel” plus other original tunes which can also be found at aaronjaxon.com. This virtual production originally took place July 27, 2020, at the Historic McKinney Center in Jonesborough, Tennessee, and aired on local NPR affiliate WETS 89.5 FM Johnson City, Tennessee. The program is based on the true stories of the people of the Southern Appalachian Region. While the cast is still performing in this altered format during these days of Covid-19, they are happy to be able to still bring you their important stories.
